Time for a Tea Party? | July 29, 2013

I'm a huge fan of T2! I regularly visit their stores to check out their latest teawares and have a taste of their latest brews. More often than not, I will end up leaving with a pretty souvenir, from the experience, to add to my ever-expanding teaware collection. It's very hard to resist :)

At the moment, I'm loving their new jumbo colour block 'jumbled' cups and saucers!

I'm also loving the intricate geometric patterns in their bright and colourful Casbah collection. Wouldn't it be lovely to have a modern Moroccan-inspired tea party with all these beauties?

Oh, and their Bling Coasters are pretty lovely too!

All these things I know to be true:

  • Kate Lilley is awesome. I mean, seriously. Love her site Minieco and love her Strawberry Treat Box printable on Oh Happy Day. Love love love.
  • Aiko Fukawa does the cutest illustrations. Guaranteed to make you smile. Get lost in her colourful world right here.
  • These pillows are just too adorable and I must have them all.
  • Marsha Golemac creates pretty things with paper. Her Mother's Day 'Things we love' sign for Megan Park's boutique window is just beautiful. I want to be Ms. Golemac. There, I said it.
  • Movenpick's Creme Brulee ice-cream is to-die-for and no, there's nothing strange about eating ice-cream in the dead of Winter.
  • After getting sucked into the rabbit hole that is Pinterest and getting lost for an hour (or two), I've become a) really inspired by Japanese packaging and b) absolutely certain that Pinterest needs to have a big, flashing "Enter at your own risk" sign on its homepage. If you dare, you can enter the rabbit hole here.
P.S. I hope you like my new 'Scrapbook' column! I plan to use this space to impart my current obsessions and the inspirations that are feeding my creative projects. I hope they'll inspire you too!

Mini Paper Fan Printables on 'Oh Happy Day' | July 15, 2013

So, I disappeared a bit last week. Sorry about that folks! My new Pomodoro timer app still works a treat but at some point, for whatever the reason, the wheels fell off my whole 'getting organised' mission. Just so you know, I've been working on these babies! It's my latest post for Oh Happy Day. You can grab them here.

FREE Pie Chart Gift Tags | July 02, 2013

If you've been following Eat Drink Chic recently you'll probably have noticed that gift tags are a bit of an obsession of mine at the moment. I think it's because they're like cute little works of art. Simple in concept, practical and also an opportunity to explore all kinds of 'graphicky' goodness!

Inspired partly by the colourwheel and partly by these awesome Pie Chart Stickies from Present and Correct, I set out to design gift tags in a similar vein. Above is what I came up with!

I recently used one of these tags to embellish a friend's birthday gift packaging. I also cut out little semi circles from some gold stickers to decorate the wrap. And just in case you're curious as to what was inside the package- it was a copy of The Hand Book and a set of nail art brushes which I picked up from Lulu.

Tackling some nail art has been on the bucket list for awhile, so I actually bought a copy of both the book and brushes for myself and for my friend! Of course, if I'm feeling lazy (a strong possibility), I might pop round to Trophy Wife Nail Art and just get them done for me. So many inspiring designs...

Life Tastes Better with Sprinkles | March 28, 2013

For our Australia Day BBQ back in Jan, I put together this little Ice-Cream Sundae bar. (Yes, I am obsessed with Sundae bars.) It is now a permanent fixture in our home.

It may appear to be intended for small children but no, it, in fact, catered for full-grown adults. All of the objects I've used to style it are part of my own collection because, basically, I am a large child. This table design is totally a manifestion of my colourful, eclectic and exceedingly infantile mind.

And yes, perhaps including a pic of Audrey Hepburn these days is a tad cliché, but I don't care, she's awesome. (It was a toss up between her and Audrey Tautou.)

Oh and, by the way, if you ever plan to use plastic amber bottle dispensers for your toppings, don't get anything too thick- it will be a massive fail :(

I'm so in love with my test tube rack of colourful sprinkles! (I've re-used some old Happy Lab tubes.)

Confetti sprinkles are the bomb.

Happy Easter/Passover weekend everybody! :)

DIY Tags- Fun with Watercolours... | August 03, 2012

So I promised you another 'Bon Appetit' cutlery tag freebie. However, I'm still awaiting those props I ordered. {Sigh}. Crossing my fingers and toes in the hope that they'll arrive next week.

In the meantime, I thought I'd play around with watercolour paints...

These are just a bit of fun and super-easy to do. Using thick watercolour paper (not exceeding 280gsm) I've cut out tag shapes with a craft punch then basically just messed around to see what kinds of pretty and striking colour effects I can make with watercolour paints, (e.g, gradients, colour-blocking, etc.)  Nothing fancy, just keeping it simple. I've then used some mini alphabet stamps and coloured inks, to print some messages on them. Voila. Easy as pie.

You can use them to decorate gifts or to add a splash of colour to a table-setting!

Happy Friday! xo

Looking forward to... | July 31, 2012

...our next shindig (whenever that may be), so I can show off my tumbler collection!..

... and stir up some Lemonade with orange blossom water. I fell in love with this beautiful drink after tasting it for the first time at Mama Ganoush (a lovely middle eastern restaurant in Windsor). I generally make it whenever we entertain- it's been popular with guests. Awesome with sparkling water, instead of still. Make sure to grab the recipe!
