Just some random things... | May 02, 2013

I guess it's probably not a good idea to write a blog post when one can't think straight. It's probably the flu, or hormones, or lack of proper nutrition (I think I had chocolate for breakfast yesterday... and lunch ). More likely, it's some hideous cocktail of all of these things. I'm going to do it anyway.

I'm on the couch today, a tissue box beside me, a quilt wrapped around me, the Codral has just kicked in and I'm staring at this stunning new treasure that has recently made its way into our life.

Over the weekend, Mark and I found a beautiful Indian sideboard at Fenton and Fenton and were quick to snatch it up. It arrived yesterday morning and it is just PERFECT. In typical 'Amy' fashion, before I could even rip the price tag off it, I immediately started placing various knick-knacks on top and shuffling them around. Ahh... the styling possibilities. I'm gonna have some fun with this one...

And how wonderful to have all this incredibly useful new storage space at my disposal.

So here's the thing I'm really confused about at the moment. I started my Sundayland tumblr recently in an attempt to create a photo journal of a more personal, less polished nature. The truth is, I would love to take this blog in the same direction. As a result, I am experiencing big-time confusion as to where to post my content these days! I would love to hear your thoughts on the issue. Would you like to see more content of a personal nature, my home decorating pursuits, my creative process, on Eat Drink Chic? What is it about this blog that you most enjoy?

In other random news...

Do you remember this cutlery tag project? Well, I've gone back to hacking my Jamie mag to decorate these amber bottles. Newspaper kinda works well too...

Above is a pic of our purple vintage bar, an impulse purchase from a few years back. For the longest time it was just this big, superfluous object that was kinda cool but didn't quite fit in anywhere. Consequently, it was shuffled around the house in an aimless fashion, finally settling by our living room windows. Strangely enough, the addition of the new sideboard to our living room has actually balanced it quite nicely and made it feel more like it's part of the room. I think I've grown to love it again.

Our living room is starting to take shape.... slowly.

Have a happy weekend everybody! :)

Well i just adore your "taste" & everthing i've seen & read here over the years - so, personally, i think that if you have something you want to share then you should feel free to use your space here... after all, it's your adorable blog & your "readers" love the variety as well as the "peeks" - i know i'm not alone!
I love keeping up with the adorableness!
  6. i love your blog for so many reasons and would love to see more personal, home, and creative process posts! :)

Amy, I love all of your content, and follow you in many places (tumblr, instagram, eat drink chic, pinterest..) I see no reason why you shouldn't combine some of this content - I look forward to all of it!
  8. Hi Amy,
I love everything you post...you always inspire me and make me smile. I live in the states so you have given me a glimpse of Australia that I find amazing! ...The shopping, the food...your seasons...your decorating...your designs...(the freebie printables)...you are amazing! Love all of it...thank you!
  9. I'd say to just blog about whatever makes you happy- even if some of it is personal. You can't go wrong with following your heart! (Sorry to sound so cheesy.)
  10. I totally understand what you're talking about. I checked out the tumblr and yes! I think that would be something I would love to see on here. Especially home decoration :)
  11. It's beautiful! And hey, feel better soon.

  12. I would love to see/read more of your at home decorating. Your photos & styling are always wonderful, no matter the content.

Those amber bottles with the flowers are just lovely.
  13. Oh my goodness, thanks to all of you for the wonderful feedback! I truly appreciate it :) It's heartwarming to hear your support. If I could give each and everyone of you a hug, I would! xo

Erin- I don't think what you said sounds cheesy at all. It's something that we hear a lot but not many of us truly understand. Following your heart is something that is harder than it sounds, it's very easy to get caught up trying to please everybody else and be influenced by what is trendy or fashionable, sometimes finding what you truly love can be like searching for a needle in a haystack. So I definitely will keep working on 'following my heart' with this blog!

    Hello gorgeous!

I've came across your blog recently and I must say it's so colourful that it lifts my mood instantly.

Besides, I truly appreciate the lack of sponsored posts again and again. I understand the business side of many blogs, but honestly it gets tiring to see the same things "everywhere".

So I'd definitely be glad to see more of your personal/creative/decorative stories.

    Hugs from far away Spain.
  19. Once again, thanks for all the supportive comments! You have all been really helpful on a topic that I've been struggling with for awhile.

Ruth- I agree- sometimes it feels empty posting only products and images that have done the rounds a thousand times. I still enjoy, and will still continue to put together my 'mixed bags' and posting about products and art/design that truly inspires me, however my greatest love is actually creating my own content- whether it's the stationery freebies I create or just taking photos to document the creative lifestyle that I strive to live- and I would love to do more of it.

Thanks again for the kind words :)
  20. I've been loving your more personal posts lately Amy! You have such amazing style and it's nice to get a little glimpse at your decorating adventures. I've struggled with the idea of sharing more personal moments on my blog too, but at the end of the day I think you just have to do whatever feels right and makes you happy!
  21. I'll happily read whatever content you choose to post! I do like finding out about new products/artists/etc through you, but I also highly enjoy your photography and aesthetic, so I'm sure I would have fun continuing to follow your posts no matter the content!

That said, a blog tends to be most interesting when the blogger is having the most fun posting, so the quality can only benefit from you posting content you're more passionate about. :)
  22. Well I'm new to your blog, but I love the style of this post! I guess a combination of contents is always great, but the 'snapshot' style is probably my favorite.
  23. I would absolutely love to see more personal stuff here! I'm also a firm believer in keeping your blog how you want your blog---it should represent you and your interests. Can't wait to see fun new content!
  24. that sideboard is sooo very cool! and I like this post, too! ;)

It's truly happy to visit your blog again. Amy. My examination was officially over today and I was dying to see your splendid thoughts+photos.
But, not just looking at your masterpieces, I guess I can share my ideas with you even though I'm pretty young.
I was interested in fashion and design just like right now. But I started to like them more ever since I found your blog. And I highly believe that we have a lot in common since I lose my mind and track of time whenever I take a closer look of your records.
And I understand your confusion, really. But what I think is that you can just keep your sundayoland as a private short diary just like a record. And, since I'm the biggest fan of this blog, you better continue your amazing works and share your interestings with the people who have similar tastes.
Again, I deeply appreciate your kindness and talent as a designer and HAPPYMAKER.

    WARMEST HUGS,
    Chloe from Korea
  26. I really like your blog! Its so cool!
This is very inspire (I hope this is the right word, my English is not so good. I'm from Germany)
    best regards!
  27. I love your blog so much! Every day I have to check the computer for a new post... I really hope you get better! Thanks so much for keeping your blog alive, and I hope that one day you will get instagram! I will follow you as soon as I hear!
  28. Love the colorful washi tape! It's one of my favorite crafting supplies. :-)
  29. The Indian sideboard is beautiful! What a treasure you've discovered!
