The Cosy Outdoors

Feb 01 2010

It's the height of summer in Melbourne and my thoughts are floating around cosy picnics and relaxed outdoor entertaining amongst colourful summery fabrics and cushions. Here's a collection of visual inspiration from around the web:

One: An innovative DIY outdoor lounge idea from Living Etc. Magazine

Two: Cath Kidston floral fabric tent. Don't know if this is still available but it's such a gorgeous concept! (via Brigadeiro de Colher)

Three: Go "Glamping" with a Laura Ashley fabric tent. (via Brigadeiro de Colher)

Four: LOVE the relaxing, neutral tones in this outdoor setting. Would be great to set this up in the middle of a forest somewhere. Source unknown. (via Brigadeiro de Colher)

Five: Cutesy outdoor caravan dining setting. Fabrics from No Chintz.

Six: Love this outdoor bed! Photo by Annika Vannerus

Wow, I love these outdoor settings so much! These would be just lovely for engagement pictures or something. My favorites are the 1st and 4th one, I just love all the soft colors and designs to them. The flowers on the side are a nice touch as well!

Trying to figure out how I can beam into any one of those pictures. What a unique and relaxing post!

I don't know which I like more. I think it's the second photo of the outdoor tent with the table in it. Maybe it's the fourth photo of the lounging area (I would so drift off and have pleasant dreams there). And that last one looks like the scene from some sort of fairytale.
I think I'll go outdoors to read today. Hopefully the sun peaks out a bit more.

Oh my, these are gorgeous! I am particularly enamored with the second photo, to be able to have a cozy tea party with an atmosphere like that...

These are all wonderful! And they bring me hope that spring will be here soon for us in the NW US. I think the first is my favorite, though to spin off of Elie's comment, I think I might try to incorporate these into our annual camping trip.

Loving those outdoor setups. Especially like the tepee type tent in the third photo. Looks great in the hay bale field. All look fantastic for those long summer days.
